A reminder to myself. Yesterday sucked. The external FTP server for mcdermott.com (the one most people use) had been down since Sunday morning when it had paniced and crashed hard. The kernel was corrupted and nothing seemed to work. Finally, after spending hours on multiple calls to Sun, we determined the system was totally hosed and our system backup didn’t work. Yay!

The ftp store is a software RAID and I didn’t have the drivers readily available for the installed OS. This meant an impromptu upgrade to Solaris 8. And then Solaris 8’s IPv6 integration messed me up.

End result: It worked, but I missed my flight and had to get a two-legged trip through Dallas of which I almost missed the seconed flight.

But I made it, I’m here and today looks much better
