I read this essay about an 80% workforce (instead of, say a 120% one) and really identified. If I worked in such a place, I wouldn’t have to place so much artificial value on work done for other people — work I have no inherent interest in. I could focus on delivering exactly what they want (no more, unlike now where I have to conjure up more to make it interesting) because I would have more time to spend on things that directly interested me.
Unfortunatly, we haven’t come very far in the past 140 years or so. Companies still like the idea of a wage slave.
