No natural enemies
Did you know hummingbirds have no natural enemies? I guess they do now: Praying Mantis Eats Hummingbird. My kids caught a Praying Mantis this past weekend and stuck him in jar with a couple of houseflies. Shortly afterward, I watched him eat one of the flies. I was amazed that this not-to-quick-to-escape insect was able to capture and eat the fly. I knew they were predatory, but didn’t realize how good they were.
I wish I had some pictures, but, really, the ones of the hummingbird being eaten beat anything I would have.
